Falling Down the Rabbit Hole

Hi Friends! Sorry I’m a little late on the weekend check in. How was it? Do anything crazy, mischievous, out of control? I need to live vicariously through someone as my weekends have been exceptionally uneventful lately. Then again it’s only a few more weeks until my trip to Philly, the family visiting, and then my second marathon!!! I guess I should try to enjoy the peace and quiet a little more while I have it.

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday was made up of ALOT of couch time for me, so instead of taking you through a very boring play by play, I thought I’d highlight some of the fun stuff that did go on this weekend.

1. I started reading The Girl on the Train

Girl on the Train

Marathon training and a lot of nights in is making me FLY through my to-read list right now. I picked this up Friday and was immediately engrossed. Anyone read it? I’m only about 100 pages or so in right now but I’m already pretty tense and jumpy about it. Thrillers are not usually my forte. I discovered this after reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and having nightmares and little sleep for a week. I scare easily and get way too into stories like these, but it’s just SO GOOD!!

2. Yummy healthy snacks…followed by some not so healthy

Granola

Saturday after my 12 miler I came home dying for some food and grabbed myself some strawberry yogurt with granola. YUMMMM! I bought this at the grocery store a week ago hoping I’d choose it over something more common for me…like a cookie, or some sugary cereal, and would you look at that, I actually chose the more healthy decision!!

Alas…a few hours later I caved and ordered a Pepperoni pizza from CPK.

Followed by some red velvet cake…

I did, however, wait until the following day to inhale the cake!
…Yes, it is really going to take some baby steps for me to join this healthy train.

3. Random night trip to Target

Target

When I was in high school my brother and I used to make trips to Walmart at 2 or 3 in the morning and it was a BLAST! The amount of strange people you would see walking around in crazy get-ups made for the best people watching and some pretty hysterical stories.

Saturday night I was feeling particularly stir crazy so I suggested to Justin we make a random, no need, trip to Target. In conclusion, it was not quite as exciting as Walmart used to be. It’s only open until midnight, so I’m assuming it attracts less eccentric people than those in Walmart I’m used to seeing…lame.

I did, however, walk away with some new eye liner and mascara. I tried on some boots, but I wasn’t exactly in the proper attired to tell if they actually looked any good.

and lastly….

4. I fell down the rabbit hole that is Youtube

Does anyone else do this? I went on to watch Kristen Bell’s sloth clip on Ellen and then ended up watching about a billion more clips, before somehow switching to One Tree Hill scenes, which eventually led to new movie trailers? I’m telling you, before you know it five minutes leads to one hour.

Anyways two of my favorite from the endless compilation I watched below…

^ This movie should be super intense if it is anything like the book. Not sure if I want to see it yet as the book really stuck with me.

^ I love Emily Blunt, she’s adorable…and I kind of like her hubby too 🙂

And that is all for my random lazy weekend.

What was your favorite part of the weekend?

Currently #1- October 2015

Hi Friends. As we near the end October I thought I’d round up the end of the month with some of my day to day pondering. I picked up this idea from Jenny who picked it up from Erin (Always wants to give credit where credit is due) 🙂

CURRENTLY:

READING: Beautiful Ruins. I’d like to say I’m enjoying this book but to be honest it’s been quite the slow read for me. I keep thinking it’s going to get better, especially as there is a little bit of mysteriousness that keeps you going, but it still hasn’t picked up any steam for me. I’m not one to quit a book, so despite the fact that I’m a little more than halfway through at this point I’m going to hold out hope that it gets better at some point.

LISTENING TO: Fool for Love by Lord Huron.

When I find a song that I love I can play it on repeat ENDLESSLY, and this is definitely my song of the month. At the gym, in the shower, during work, I have easily played this song hundreds of times in the course of just a few weeks and it has yet to get old. I love a song with lyrics that tell a good story.
Close Seconds: Die a Happy Man by Thomas Rhett…mostly because I stumbled upon this video a few weeks ago.
 Thomas Rhett Love Story
Runner up: Beautiful Drug by Zac Brown Band. They can do no wrong in my opinion.

EATING: Candy Corn. I become pretty obsessed with the seasonal candy and candy corn during October is no exception. It’s not unusual for me to call Justin while he’s driving home from work and ask him to pick up a bag for me.

WEARING: Flannel and boots!! I must say as much as I love Houston, I’ve felt my first pang of homesickness for the east coast when “Fall” hit and there was no “Fall”. The temperature is still at a good 80 degrees here most days and I’ve put off the boots and flannel for as long as possible feeling like it’s just not the time. However, when I realized that in just another week or so we will already be in November I figured the only time is now and finally hauled them out.

WATCHING: Bindi Irwin on dancing with the stars. This girl is absolutely adorable and has an incredible attitude. It makes me happy that young girls have mentors out there like her and Sadie Robertson. I don’t watch Dancing With the Stars often but every now and then I’ll catch an episode. A few weeks back I almost wiped out on the treadmill, holding back tears, while watching Bindi’s tribute to her dad. Since then I’ve made sure to catch up on her dances through Youtube. Last week she knocked it out of the park yet again with her rendition of Dirty Dancing. I don’t want to jinx her, but honestly the girl can do no wrong.
